Unofficially retired professor of humanities, now writing full-time and enjoying life to the fullest; I'm avid about film, live theater, music, opera, and ballet. Please don't think that makes me a stuffed shirt, since a lot of opera and ballet (Cosí Fan Tutti, Don Giovanni, Giselle) are pretty ribald. Chaucer and Shakespeare, too. Some of the stuff bores me to death, but I just don't attend. Musical tastes favor the Blues and Rock, and Jazz (especially piano jazz and vocal standards). Politically active in select causes (NOW, etc). Physically fit and active outdoors: motorcycle, hiking, canoes, scuba. I'd like to meet a woman with similar interests who is independent in her own thoughts, because I have always found that a woman's perspective enriches my own. I'm genuinely respectful of the concerns women face, and promise never to tell you I'm a nice guy, unless my voice is oozing irony.
