How can anyone describe themselves in this short space? Each of our lives is worth a book (or more!). I have a quick wit and people describe me as funny, smart and caring. I enjoy many things – nature, reading, music, cooking, watching football, playing games, listening to a friend or lover – but only a very few things are essential: My daughters and grandchildren (who live VERY far away), my dogs (who are the center of my life right now), and my best friend who also lives far from me.

I am currently on a month long camping trip with my dogs, and next Spring and Summer I will travel to Colorado, California and Washington (at least), but I am equally happy in my home. Busy days can be happy days, but so can quiet days, and even better if there is someone to enjoy them with you.

I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life. I have many options, and honestly, I’m not sure what road I will take. I am happy living alone, but I think that happiness would grow if I had the right person to share my life with. Three maxims that guide my life are:

• What matters most is not what happens to you, but how you react to it.
• Yesterday’s mistakes are done; try to do better today.
• The best discussions are about ideas.

To be a possible good match for me you don’t need to share all of my likes and dislikes. You do need to be a liberal thinker (in the classical sense of being open minded and non-judgmental). Also you need to not be a cigarette smoker or a close follower of an organized religion.
